Developer, Contract

Cybermynd provide state governments with sophisticated database systems. Microsoft certified they deliver solutions using SQL server and .Net technologies.

At Cybermynd I was hired as a contractor to implement a major upgrade to the Victorian governments* radiation sources licensing system.

The technologies I used at Cybermynd were legacy COM+ systems, VB.Net 3.5 and SQL 2005.

Of particular interest was development utilizing subsonic (subsonicproject.com), an object relational mapping data access layer.

ClickPOS

December 2007 每 April 2008

Software developer

ClickPOS is an Internet 2.0 company, providing a server hosted service that enables retail stores easy access to a world class point of sale system.

As a software developer at ClickPOS my primary task was to convert and enhance legacy modules previously written in Cold Fusion into .Net 2.0 IIS ASPX/AJAX and SQL server reporting services.

Working at ClickPOS was an exciting experience as the company is progressive and embraces technology in order to provide their customers with higher levels of service.  The team environment fostered learning and adoption of cutting edge tools.

Michael Eastick and Associates

Michael Eastick and Associates produce an e-commerce package for businesses worldwide, basic modules are point of sale, online presence and an optional e-bay style auction system.

The e-Sales system consisted of a VB.Net windows forms based back end client and a ASP web front end.

I was hired as a contractor to deliver enhancements to the online auction process, and implement an upgrade to store front functionality for mission critical customers. The systems I focused on used Visual Basic 6 and SQL server 2000.

I delivered significant improvements to the code base in terms of quality and maintainability.

NEC Australia, Maxi Multimedia

September 2000 每 May 2006

Developer, Team leader

NEC and Maxi Multimedia provide IVR and online payment gateway services. The software development team has a strong focus on adherence to procedures with a formalized quality assurance process.

My position involved implementation of payment gateways and client certificate PKI architecture. I worked in this position for over five years and gained valuable experience being a part of a large team environment.

The banking grade technology evolved over the time that I worked there. Initially the payment system was written in Visual Basic 6/C++ DCOM on Windows server 2000.

After the transition to C#/.Net 1.1 and Windows server 2003, Web Services were implemented.  Maxi utilized Microsoft's message queuing software in order to ensure delivery of transactions to the database.

Hewlett Packard

May 2001 每 June 2001

Consultant

Hewlett Packard asset management department is utilizing and re-selling a custom built extra-net application 'Assetview'. I undertook the contract to implement and deploy upgrades to the 'Assetview' system.

Improvements were made to the end user experience, creating a more responsive application. Also several new crystal reports were implemented. Functionality was delivered in milestones, so that clients could receive the upgrade as soon as possible.

The Assetview application is an Internet based application, using Cold Fusion 4.0, Crystal Reports and SQL Server 2000.

ObjectMastery

January 1998 每 September 2000

Software developer, Team leader

ObjectMastery develop software for the financial services industry. In March 2000 Transact Online was launched 每 a UK based Internet enabled investment service.

I started at ObjectMastery as a junior programmer developing e-commerce database systems. Internet enabling the back end finance system, allowed me to achieve the position of team leader for web systems.

Working as team leader of a five person team I implemented Transact Online financial portal. The Transact Online system was developed using Cold Fusion application server, running on windows server 2000 / IIS. It interfaced with the legacy finance system through and ODBC layer.

ObjectMastery was an excellent experience; a large amount of functionality leveraged the legacy system, results were achieved quickly using relatively new technology. It is a fast paced and stimulating, yet quality focused environment.
